1962 Surtees/Matchless

World champion, John Surtees, built this Matchless G50 powered special with the intention of making it as light as possible with extensive use of magnesium alloy and titanium. The frame is a Surtees design, and combines the best features of the Norton featherbed and Matchless G50 chassis.

245lbs.. that's seriously light! Wonderful looking bike. I've always thought that lightness was the way to go. Still on the Matchless theme, why AMC didn't drop a G50 engine into the G85CS rolling chassis? Maybe it was just too late in the day. Further to TONYC's comment, the uniqueness appears to have been carried over to the valves as well!

Nice bike, and thanks for sharing it with us. I think there is a typo in your spec sheet. If the fuel system is really based on Ceriani forks, then we have a more unique bike than imagined.
