Unlike other Spanish manufacturers, Sanglas ignored the competition market and concentrated on solid, dependable machines for civilian, police and military use. Heavily influenced by contemporary British designs, the Sanglas was the Spanish equivalent to the Matchless or Norton single.
Sanglas continued to build motorcycles into the early 1980s, when the factory was purchased by the Yamaha Motor Co. who assembled machines for sale in Spain.
