Found on eBay: 1975 Honda CB750

Our weekly wander through eBay popped up not one but two Honda CB750s we'd be happy to have in our garage. The first is a quite original 1975 CB750 with just over fifteen thousand miles on it. It would be a great rider or the basis for a beautiful show bike with a little work.

According to the auction, this CB has gone through a partial restoration. The frame and swingarm have been repainted and the engine cases have been cleaned. The top end of the engine has also been taken apart, the valves were lapped and new seals and gaskets were installed. The carbs have been cleaned and synchronized, the oil and plugs have been changed and the valves have been adjusted, and overall, this looks to be a pretty nice bike aside from a bit of rust on the spokes, headers and pipes.

We also came across a very nice 1970 Honda CB750 with only five thousand miles on the clock. According to the auction, the bike has been stored most of its life, and everything works just fine. The current owner rebuilt the carbs and changed all the fluids when he got the bike. He has since drained the gas from the bike and stored it in his house, as you see in the photos. He claims that all it needs to be ready to run is gas.

Found on eBay: 1982 Suzuki Katana

katanaforsale

One bike that we never get sick of seeing is the original Suzuki Katana. Love it or hate it, the design still draws attention today, just like it did more than 25 years ago when it was introduced.

The 1,000cc Katana was produced for just one year, so it's not every day that you find one for sale. This example, though not perfect, has most of its original parts and appears to be a good runner in decenet shape.

According to the auction, the bike has a new battery, the carbs have been cleaned and the tank has been cleaned. It's missing the stock pipe, windscreen, original brake lines and the tank has been touched up.

Found on eBay: 1959 Harley-Davidson XLCH

59sportyforsale

Chalk it up to the fact that our next “Under the Radar” focuses on the 1972-1985 Harley-Davidson Sportster, but this week we found ourselves trolling through eBay’s Harley listings to see what kind of old American Iron we could find.

And what a find. From what the seller says, this 1959 Sportster, only the third year for the Sportster model and the second year for the XLCH, was laid up in a shed about 1981, and hasn’t turned a wheel since. The XLCH (for “Competition Hot”) was a minimalist animal; 1958 models were sold with no instruments, lights or mufflers, equipped with straight pipes only. For 1959 things got a bit more civilized, with lights and, on some models, a speedo. The seller claims the original owner died in 1968, after which the bike was stored for 11 years. It came out of storage for a short three years, before being parked for another 19 years.

Except for the non-original paint and the Mikuni flatslide carb, this rare old Sporty looks remarkable complete and original, and would make an excellent foundation for someone looking for an early Sporty.

Found on eBay: 1941 Indian Sport Scout

indianscoutred

How many more barn-fresh Indians are out there? While we're betting they can still be found, the number have to be getting few, and if you're looking forward to restoring one someday, now may be the time.

This example is a 1941 Indian Sport Scout. According to the auction, it has been in the family of the current owner for more than 40 years, but hasn't been in running condition for quite a long time. The motor is said to turn over and have good compression, but that's about it as far as details go.
