Motorcycle Poll: Which 500cc twin would you buy?

Remember the mid-1970s, when twins were still hot and a 500cc bike was big enough for the road? Three of our favorites were Honda’s CB500T, Suzuki’s 500 Titan and Yamaha’s XS500. Cool bikes then, we think they’re even cooler today. So if you were going to buy one today, which would it be? Click the link and vote now!

Found on eBay: Custom 1975 BMW R90S

bmwr90s-2

One of the coolest bikes on eBay this week is this highly customized 1975 BMW R90S. Complete with a front fairing from a Ducati 900SS, Tarozzi clip-ons and rearsets, VDO gauges and more, this is one custom job we'd be proud to own.

Listed by Motogrotto, a BMW restoration shop in Easton, Penn., the bike is certainly not your normal R90S. According to the auction, it is a numbers-matching bike with 33,000 miles, and it's just been the proud recipient of a fresh valve job with Black Diamond valves, valve guides, springs and keepers, a new sealed battery, Avon tires, rebuilt brakes, stainless steel brake lines, new Dunstall-style mufflers and fresh fluids throughout. It still runs the stock R90S suspension and engine, but now sports pod-style air filters on the carbs for better breathing. Overall, it looks like a slick build, and one we'd love to have around for Sunday morning breakfast runs.

Motorcycle Poll: Which triple would you buy?

Motorcycle Poll
Which Triple Would You Buy?

Way back in our very first issue we examined Yamaha’s 1976 XS750 triple. For comparison, we looked at other three-cylinder motorcycles including a 1976 Laverda 3C and a 1976 Suzuki GT750. While they’re all good bikes in their own way, they don’t all share the same appeal. So our question is, if you were going to buy one of these today, which would it be? Vote now, and feel free to leave a comment in the “comments” section.

Found on eBay: 1966 Honda CA160 Touring

ca160

We're just back from the 6th Annual Barber Vintage Festival, and while there are many stories to tell and photos to share, one immediate effect of the festival is we're now itching to buy a Honda CA160.

A loyal subscriber and a friend of the magazine, Howard Boone was kind enough to loan us a bike during the festival for running around the show grounds. It was a red and original Honda CA160, complete with a set of period pinstripes that made everyone who saw it smile. Small, light and easy to ride, this Honda reminded us how much fun a little streebike can be, and it sent us looking for one this week.

What we found was this 1966 Honda CA 160. According to the auction, it's a good runner that just needs a little TLC. The current owner is guessing that it's an older repaint that's probably due for another coat. The odometer reads just 13,414 miles. The electric start works just fine, though the tail light doesn't work. A replacement tail light is included in the auction. The balffles have also been taken out of the exhaust that it currently wears, so it's loud. The bike does come with an exhaust system from a 305 that can be modified to fit the 160.

This looks to be a pretty good deal, and appears to be listed with no reserve.
