Found on eBay: 1973 Kawasaki H2 750

Sometimes it's good to be practical, logical even. A nice standard style motorcycle, or even a good dual-sport bike, can serve many purposes, from commuting to riding curvy roads on a Sunday morning to light touring. A nice two-stroke, 750cc Kawasaki H2, however, isn't really great for any of these purposes. We want one anyway.

Loud, fast, unruly and a handful to ride, Kawasaki's H2 was, however, an icon of its time, and the bikes are very desireable today. See our article on the (in)famous Kawi from the July/August 2006 issue here.

Our searching for a H2 led us to this 1973 model. This particular example has just been the subject of a "complete frame up restoration," according to the listing. This included new cylinders of the stock bore size, new stock pistons, and a new Barnett clutch, along with a rebuilt master cylinder and a brake caliper.

BSA is Marque of the Year for AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2009

More details are being announced about AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2009, and the latest bit of news is the naming of the Marque of the Year. BSA, one of Great Britain's most storied motorcycle companies, will be the featured marque at VMD this year, set for July 24-26 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

Founded in the 1860s as the Birmingham Small Arms Co. to build weapons for the Crimean War, BSA branched out to motorcycles and was making machines entirely in-house by 1910. Originally aimed at the utility and recreational market, the bikes became well-known to racers the world over after the factory entered a team in the Daytona 200 in 1954, and BSA riders swept the top three places. Its Gold Star 500cc single, in particular, has become one of the most iconic bikes in all of motorcycling.

"BSA's place in motorcycling history is impressive, with its well-known and well-raced BSA Gold Stars, Shooting Stars and more,'' said Tigra Tsujikawa, events coordinator for the AMA. "We're glad to showcase the marque at this year's AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, and highlight the machines and people who made BSA famous."  

Always one of the biggest and best classic bike gatherings of the year, VMD will feature bike shows, vintage racing and the always-huge swap meet, along with a new highlight this year: a parade of classic motorcycles representing each year of the AMA's 85 years to celebrate the heritage of American motorcycling (go here for more info on the parade).

Found on eBay: 1967 Bultaco Metralla

Spring really is coming. It will be here soon. But it's not here yet, which leaves you a bit of tinkering time before those warm sunny days ahead. Clearly you need something else to work on. How about a gorgeous Bultaco Metralla?

Located in Kansas City, this 1967 Bultaco Metralla M-23 is in very nice, running, rideable condition, though it does sound like it could use a bit of fettling to get it 100 percent finished and reliable.

According to the auction, the engine only has about 5 hours on it since a complete rebuild, including rings, rod kit, main bearings and all gaskets. The paint and chrome are about 2 years old, and the cad plating on the bike is original.

Found on eBay: 1942 Harley-Davidson Servi-Car

And now, for something totally different...

We've featured a few Harley-Davidsons (including a nice race-ready XR750 and  a 1978 Harley XLCR ), the Servi-Car is a Harley that even some of the most die-hard V-twin fans aren't familiar with.

Produced from 1932 all the way through 1973, the Servi-Car was a genuine 3-wheeler. Widely used by car dealerships, repair shops and as a delivery vehilce for all manner of businesses, police stations around the country also bought many of them and used them for emptying parking meters and other utilitarian duties.

This particular Servi-Car is a 1942 model, and was previously titled to the Muskegon Coca-Cola Bottling company. Prior to that it was titled to the Muskegon, Mich.,  police department. The seller states that it has new tires, a rebuilt motor and transmission, an aftermarket carburetor (though the owner still has the original Linkert carb), and that it runs and drives great.

Found on eBay: 1954 Honda Dream Type E

Honda Dreams are great classic motorcycles, and most of the several versions of the Dream are pretty easy to find due to the high numbers of them sold in the U.S. in the 1950s and 1960s. But some of the very early Dreams, like this 1954 Type E, are hard to find in the U.S.

Though this bike is not complete, the owner claims he has located the needed parts to finish what would be a very collectable specimen.
