Found on eBay: 1960 BMW R60/2

bmw r60

This week's eBay highlight is a neat one. We're big fans of old airhead BMW's around here, and though we see a lot of them online, it's pretty unusual to see one with this many cool period accessories on it. This 1960 BMW R60/2 looks to be in great running shape and has a sweet Avon fairing, Buco bags and more.

Back in March we featured 1975 Moto Guzzi 850T in this same blog, and now the same seller has listed the gorgeous Beemer you see here. According to the listing, this R60 has just 420 miles on it since a complete engine and transmission rebuild by Benchmark Works. The final drive has been rebuilt, and the clutch assembly is new. The Avon fairing has a new Gustafsson windsheild and the bike includes a BMW tool kit and tire pump. And, frankly, we just like the looks of it.

Found on eBay: 1976 Kawasaki KZ900 LTD

kz900

This week's eBay find is a 1976 Kawasaki KZ900 LTD, a one-year-only version of the KZ900. According to The Standard Catalog of Japanese Motorcycles, the LTD was more of a cruiser than the standard KZ900, and it featured a Jardine four-into-two exhaust, speacial paint and a  more deeply countoured seat. It also had  a second disc brake on the front, and the brake calipers were mounted behind the lower fork legs instead of in front as they were on the standard KZ900. The frame also received additional reinforcing, which aided in handling.

According to the auction listing, the bike was restored at a little over 19,000 miles and has had just 600 put on it since restoration. The engine was totally rebuilt and over-bored to a 1036cc from a 1015cc block using a new piston kit purchased in Australia. The frame, swingarm, brackets and any metal body frame part that was originally black were stripped and professionally black powder coated. It also features a Vance & Hines 4-into-1 exhaust.

Found on eBay: 1979 Honda CBX Super Sport

Honda CBX SS

This week's eBay scouting found the crown jewel of 1970s Hondas: an original 1979 CBX Super Sport.

The auction claims that "This bike is in Mint condition and runs like a brand new bike. Everything on this bike is original and untouched. The seat is perfect with no tears. The paint is perfect and original. The motor runs strong with no known mechanical defects of any kind. There is no smoke, no odd sounding noises and no transmission problems. Both tires are in great condition with about half of the tread left. The chrome is in great condition with no rust and the exhaust is original and in great condition. This is a very low mileage bike and has plenty of life left in the motor. This CBX is one of the few survivors of the 79 models that has not been restored and looks this good."

If this catches your eye like it caught ours, check out the rest of the posted photos on eBay. To see the auction for this lovely Honda CBX, go here.

Found on eBay: 1972 Suzuki T500

T500

This week's online browsing found us on eBay looking for something a little different, a little unusual. Something Under the Radar, you might say. That's when we remembered writing a piece on Suzuki's two-stroke T500 back in the September/October 2006 issue. After rereading the piece and doing a bit of  looking around, we came across a lovely restored T500 we just had to share with our readers.

This T500 has been completely restored, and when it was put back together, the seller installed Suzuki GT750 motor mount bushings a trick he heard about through a New Zealand website. The seller claims that this taken away about 90 percent of the vibration, leaving you with a very smooth-riding T500. All the rubber, including all the seals were replaced as a part of the restoration, along with new cables, paint, new piston rings, new clutch plates, and even new crankshaft seals.
