Despite chilly and rainy weather, the Motorcycle Classics Ride and Show at the 2011 Road America Vintage Motorcycle Classic in Elklhart Lake, Wis., attracted some stunning classic motorcycles. Making the trip all the way from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was Robert Westercamp, who entered two absolutely beautiful Ducatis.

The older of the two was a 1962 Ducati Diana Café Racer, which featured a Diana engine in a Monza frame.

Sitting next to the Diana and attracting a lot of attention was a 1971 Ducati 350 Silver Shotgun, which ended up winning Best Restored in the European category. Robert reports that when he got this bike it was a basket case, but complete. We think you'll agree that this Silver Shotgun earned every bit of its Best Restored trophy.

There was plenty of eye candy at the 2011 Road America Vintage Motorcycle Classic in Elkhart Lake, Wis., but one of the highlights was Rod Schmidt's 1934 Moto Guzzi GT-17. Rod entered the bike into the Motorcycle Classics Ride and Show, and our staff had the pleasure of working next to the bike all day as it was displayed next to our tent.

According to the information Rod provided, the Guzzi was purchased in Asmara, Ethiopia in 1971. It's in great condition and best of all, Rod rode it to and from the show.

The attendees of the Ride and Show showed their appreciation for the bike by naming it the People's Choice award winner. Here's a video showing Rod starting up this fantastic classic motorcycle:

One of the highlights of the 2011 Road America Vintage Motorcycle Classic was the full line of 1973 Yamaha Enduro motorcycles displayed by Allen Brotz, Sheboygan, WI, in the Motorcycle Classics Ride & Show. Allen is a pro when it comes to setting up an informative display as the bikes featured descriptive signs and were lined up by size. Here's what Allen has to say about each bike and his quest for collecting the full line:

"Bought in 1996, this was definitely the best find of the bunch. I was lucky to find this classic and buy it from the original owner. Everything was original in every detail including the battery (which is now new). He still had the original owner's manual, service manual and break-in manual. It is my personal favorite and my daily ride."

"Bought in 1997, this classic was a basket case. As seen in Old Bike #78, this motorcycle was on its way to the scrap pile. Fortunately, what I thought might be a destroyed engine turned out to be a clip in the transmission where it did not belong. The top end also needed to redone. A rebore and oversize piston were also installed. This was the biggest challenge of all of my enduros and I turned to Charlie Lacy at Enduro Classics in Culpepper, Va., for help. As usual, he came through with all of the parts I needed, and I was lucky enought to find another DT3 to the remaining parts I needed."

"Bought in 1994, this classic was a real find. All it needed was a gas tank gasket, air cleaner and a battery."

"Bought in 1996, this bike was in good condition and didn't need much more than a few parts and a good cleaning. Once again, Charlie at Enduro Classics was very helpful with parts supply."

"Bought in 1997 in not nearly the condition it is in now. Many hours were spent and many parts from Enduro Classics were used to bring this classic back to life."

"Bought at the Mid-Ohio Vintage Days weekend in July 2000. It was stripped down for motocross racing and missing a few parts. With the help of Speed & Sport and Rerun Motorcycle, the needed parts were found. Mission: '1973 Yamaha Enduros' complete! Next quest: unknown."
