Found on eBay: Restored 1969 BSA Rocket III

Rocket3.jpg

This week's find is another British favorite: a BSA Rocket III. Introduced in 1968, the 750cc, 125mph three-cylinder Rocket III was crucial to BSA. The Japanese were flooding the market with high-tech, hi-power bikes, and the Rocket was BSA's attempt to stem the tide. And thought the motorcycling press labeled the Rocekt the world's first Superbike and applauded its performance, 1969 was just around the corner. With it came Honda's CB750, and suddenly the Rocket wasn't king anymore.

This beautifully restored 1969 BSA Rocket III is an amazing specimen, complete with a freshly rebuilt engine, a freshly powder coated frame and more. The seller states that the BSA has been  " ...completely restored with every item being rebuilt or replaced with new to original BSA factory specifications.  After restoration, it was started to confirm everything works, then stored in my home with zero miles and never ridden. Matching numbers NC00329 and cases 681A. No excuses or stories. This is as near perfect as you will find.

Found on eBay: 1975 Yamaha RD's

Rds

Why bid on just one nice old Yamaha RD when you could bid on three of them at once?

That's right. This auction is for two Yamaha RD250's and a Yamaha RD350, all 1975 models. While none of the bikes are perfect, all three are in running condition and would be great riders with minimal work.  All have clear and current Iowa titles, so getting them licensed in your state shouldn't be much trouble. Looks like the beginnings of a great garage full of fun to us!

Found on eBay: 1978 Yamaha SR500

SR500

Yamaha's SR500 was a retro bike before being retro was popular. A throwback to the days of BSA Gold Stars and other big street singles, the SR showed a whole new generation how great a big single can be both for running around town and snaking down tight backroads.

This 1978 SR500, though not perfect, appears to be a good rideable example. The tank decals appear to be non-stock, and some markings in the tank are visible in a few of the photos from gas overflow, but aside from this and a few other minor cosmetic flaws, the bike looks good. Buy it and ride it as is, or repaint it and slowly detail it back to perfection. Either way, our guess is once you've run it up and down your favorite back road a few times, listening to the thump of that great engine through the bike's aftermarket Supertrapp exhaust, you'll be glad you picked it up.

Found on eBay: 1974 Ducati GT750

ducatigt750

Though we like to feature a variety of great old bikes (and not just Ducatis), this very original Ducati GT750 was just too nice not to share. Nice, original condition GT750 have never been very plentiful, and today they're becoming quite rare. It's also a great, rideable classic for the Italian bike nut.

The seller of this gorgeous GT750 claims this Duc to be a 2-owner bike, originally purchased by Earl Campbell, the founder of Pro Italia Motors in Glendale, Calif. With just 19,575 miles, the bike appears to be in great condition and is ready to be ridden. The front brakes have been upgraded to a dual-disc set up, and it has a Dyna ignition system and Chrysler Marine coils.

If you aren't familiar with the GT750, check out our Sept./Oct. 2006 issue of Motorcycle Classics here for a ride and review by one of our favorite writers, Roland Brown.
