Found on eBay: 1971 Yamaha XS1B

 xs1b

This week's eBay searching led us to a low mileage, surprisingly original 1971 Yamaha XS1B, a 654cc parallel twin with just 4,127 miles on it.

According to the auction, this XS1has new tires and runs and rides well. The odometer is not currently working, so there's the question of how many miles it's seen since the odometer stopped. Though the pictures are a bit fuzzy, the bike appears to be in nice shape. It looks like it wears it's orignal paint, the seat appears to be in good shape, and the chrome and metal finishes appear to be pretty decent.

Found on eBay: Honda CB1100F

Standard-style bikes from the 1980s are slowly becoming more appreciated by collectors and riders alike. One such standard that we’ve always been fond of is the Honda CB1100F.

A one-year-only model, the CB1100F came in Pearl Shell White, coordinated with Candy Pearl Maui Red or Candy Pearl Capiolani Blue. In stock form the bike wore a black four-into-two exhaust, but this particular bike has been upgraded with a Vance and Hines street megaphone. According to the auction, it also wears pod air filters, and new factory jet kit and a new gold O-ring chain. It’s said to have just 16,500 original miles on it, and appears to be in quite nice condition.

Found on eBay: 1978 Ducati 900SS

900ssduc

It didn’t take us much time wandering around on eBay today to come up with this one. Once we found this original, ridden-but-loved 900SS, we stopped searching.

Though it looks like it’s been enjoyed by its current (and prior) owners, this SS appears to be in quite nice shape. The auction does mention a few rubbed off decals and less-than-perfect paint, but in our world that just means you can ride it without being quite as worried about harming it.

According to the auction, this Canadian-spec Duc has approximately 22,000 kilometers (or roughly 15,000 miles) on it. It had the valves checked and shimmed roughly 2,000 miles ago and wears good tires and 1st oversize pistons. The auction does mention a first gear that slips a bit, and offers several possible explanations, but depending on what kind of price the bike goes for, this may not be much of a concern. There aren’t many of these left, and they seem to be gaining in value, so if you want one, consider taking a look at this one before it’s too late.

Found on eBay: 1970 Yamaha R5

wildpurpler5

Searching through eBay this week led us to a very cool find: a low-mile, original, unmolested Yamaha R5. Ready to ride and enjoy, this could be a great first classic for a new owner, or a fine addition to someone’s collection of Seventies Japanese metal.

With just 2,724 miles, this R5 is definitely a survivor. It still wears its original purple and white paintjob, which despite a small dent in the tank, seems to be in outstanding condition. It does wear an aftermarket windshield, but that’s an easy thing to remove.

According to the auction, the bike idles, runs, shifts and stops just like it should. The seat appears to be in great condition, and all of the brightwork looks, well, quite bright.
