Vintage MotoFest 2017

Vintage MotoFest flyer

Get ready to gas up and point your scoot toward Elkhart Lake and Wisconsin’s famed Road America race track for Vintage MotoFest 2017, June 9-11, featuring AHRMA vintage racing and the 14th annual Rockerbox bike show. The weekend-long festival centers around vintage racing and the ride-in bike show and competition, entering riders from all over the country in several competitive award classes to showcase the greatest in classic style and fresh customization, and the Road America paddock will be packed with local and national vendors, live music, food and beer.

This will be the fourth Vintage MotoFest at Road America, featuring two days of AHRMA vintage motorcycle racing on Road America’s legendary 4-mile road course. We’ll award a special Motorcycle Classics Editors’ Choice Award at the Rockerbox Bike Show (proceeds supporting associated charities), which always draws an eclectic selection of custom and stock vintage bikes, including choppers, scooters, cafés and more.

Bikes at Rockerbox Motofest 2016

You never know what will show up at Rockerbox: Tom Pirie’s stunning 1981 Laverda Jota strikes a pose next to a rare 2001 MZ Skorpion at last year’s Rockerbox Bike Show.

Judges for the show include an all-star lineup from the vintage and custom motorcycle community, including Retrospeed founder and owner Brady Ingelse. Motorcycle Classics editor-in-chief Richard Backus joins the judges’ panel, which will judge bikes in five classes, and attendees will pick the best bike for the annual People’s Choice award.

Road America’s 1,200-foot Zip Line will be running all day, giving attendees a unique way to view the show and take in the Road America track as they eye the choppers, café racers, vintage originals, scooters and other customs filling the show area.

If you love vintage racing and custom and classic bikes, the Vintage MotoFest and Rockerbox bike show is a special weekend you don’t want to miss. The support it gets from local and national vendors keeps growing every year, and we’d like to make a special shoutout to our Vintage MotoFest show sponsors for supporting our presence at Road America and shows across the country, including the Labor Day weekend Bonneville Vintage GP and the annual Barber Vintage Festival. The people who run these companies are just like you and me, ardent supporters of the vintage motorcycle community, helping making cool things happen everywhere. — Richard Backus
