1955 Simplex Automatic Power Cycle

The Simplex was a very basic lightweight motorcycle with many features dating back to the early machines of the 1910s and 1920s, such as the belt drive. This bike would be a logical upgrade from a Whizzer-powered bicycle — economical, easy to operate and relatively inexpensive. The Salisbury-type clutch gave infinitely variable automatic gear ratios that greatly improved the performance.

Had one, enjoyed it, was careful to mix the oil to gasoline. Sold it and explained the oil to gas mix to the new owner New owner not listening, did not add oil and at 30mph, engine locked up and tossed him over the handle bars. No helmet, just a hard head. Regards, Steve Snyder, PhotoMedia
