Found on eBay: 1962 Matchless G2CS
By Landon Hall
Winter is here and the first big snow has already fallen in many parts of the U.S., and while that may keep many of us off the road, imagine the fun you could have with an old scrambler!
While we can’t entirely recommend riding your motorcycle in the snow, we’ve done it, and with the right bike (and the right empty field) it can actually be quite a lot of fun, assuming speed is kept to a minimum and you remain as vertical as possible. The truth of the matter is this old Matchless probably just got rolled outside into the light for this photo, but the snow on the tires led us to (younger) memories of donuts in the white stuff.
A 1961 Matchless G2CS Competition Scrambler, this is a rare bird indeed. According to the auction, this bike has no headlight, no instruments, no taillight and no sidecovers, and that’s the way it came from the factory. It does have the original air cleaner and the correct seat. It has been the recipient of a recent tune-up, starts easily and runs like a champ.
