This 1963 Yamaha YG-1 somehow escaped the fate of many small Japanese motorcycles, which seem to have been bought and worn out or wrecked many years ago. The bike still wears its original paint and the chrome seems to be in pretty good shape for being more than 45 years old.
According to the auction, the current owner has had the bike for 10 years, and has entered it in many antique motorcycle shows. At the last show, it scored a 98 out of 100 possible points. The auction also says that the bike runs and shifts nicely and that the brakes work well, but also mentions that it has now been sitting in the garage for three years without anyone riding it, so it is probably in need of a little carburetor cleaning and adjustment. The seller also notes that the engine has been “meticulously maintained and had NOS parts installed to keep it in factory shape.”
