1. Fresh from Joe Rocket, we ordered up a pair of the new Meteor FX boot. Made of split-grain leather and featuring a DryTech waterproof membrane, the Meteor FX boots are 11 inches tall and feature a full-length zipper that runs up the inside of the ankle, along with a large hook-and-loop flap that closes over the zipper. The toes on each boot feature large rubber gearshift protectors, and the ankle, toe and heel are internally reinforced. The tough, aggressive soles give good grip and the large FullFlex articulation panels on the front and rear offer a full range of motion along with a padded upper cuff for comfort. A shorter mid-height version (the Meteor FX Mid) is also available. A nice, solid, comfortable touring boot at an attractive price. Price: $119.99.

2. Perfect for the hottest days of summer riding, the Mesh Hi boots from Firstgear feature large mesh panels on the front, side and top of the boots combined with a perforated leather toe and top of the foot to keep air moving through the boot. The hook-and-loop side flaps hide full-length zippers that make the boots easy to get on and off. There’s a nicely textured rubber shifter pad on both toes, and the inside of each ankle has the Firstgear logo and name subtly displayed in a reflective print. The Mesh Hi is a 10-inch tall boot, and it is also available in a shorter version, the Mesh Lo, which is a 7-inch tall boot. Comfortable for walking when you’re off the bike, the Mesh Hi boots are a good all-around boot for warm-weather touring and commuting. Price: $139.95.

3. We’ve been fans of Gasolina’s retro-inspired boots for years and we have a pair of their Classic tall boots that we wear on a regular basis. The new Shortcut boots keep all the great features of the Classic boot, but are low cut for a cooler ride in the summer. The Shortcuts are a 10-inch tall boot including the heel (the Classic measures 15 inches) and are constructed from breathable, high-quality top grain 1.8mm-2mm leather. Lined in soft tanned leather, the Shortcuts feature two buckles and a full-length zipper at the back to make them easy to get on or off, made even easier once they’re broken in. An inside leather flap runs the full length of the zipper so it won’t chafe on your leg. Made in small batches and assembled by hand, the boots utilize soles made of solid, natural rubber that are comfortable and great for walking. Gasolina boots feature Goodyear welt construction and can be resoled if ever needed. Price: $229.

4. If you’re looking for a pair of boots with an urban hip vibe that still offers some of the safety of riding boots, we have a couple of options. First up are the REV’IT! Royale boots. Made of full-grain cowhide and waxed suede, the Royale boots feature a thermoformed toecap and heel cup along with integrated ankle protection and are 8.5 inches tall. There are leather gear shift pads on both toes, anatomically shaped foot beds and a hook-and-loop ankle strap. Available in brown (shown) or black. Comfortable for walking and nicely styled, these could easily be an everyday shoe if the dress code at your office doesn’t require wingtips. Price: $299.99.

5. Another pair of excellent touring boots, the Attack Evo boots from iXS feature an integrated waterproof and breathable soltoTEX membrane for all-weather performance. Simply designed and made from water-resistant and durable calf skin nappa leather, the 10-inch tall Attack Evo boots feature a soft textile lining for all day riding comfort. The zipper on the outside of the ankle features a hook-and-loop flap closure, aiding in waterproofing and making them quick and easy to put on and take off. There are plastic inlays at the ankle and shinbone for safety, and though they make the boots rather stiff, they should provide good impact resistance. The Attack Evos are still quite comfortable for walking thanks to the ample  room at the top of the boot. There are rubber shift pads on both toes, along with reinforced heel caps. A sturdy, slick-looking European-styled touring boot at an affordable cost. Price: $155.
