This week's eBay searching led us to one of the most well known of the British triples; the original Triumph Trident. The seller states that this T150V is an original, numbers-matching example. It's been upgraded with electronic ignition, newly rebuilt wheels, new Dunstall-style megaphones, rebuilt gauges and more.

More from the seller: "This has a three cylinder, 750cc motor with five speed gearbox. Engine runs real strong and smooth, easy to start. Clutch and gearbox are smooth and quiet too. Engine has electronic ignition. Wheels are newly rebuilt by Buchanan's with polished stainless spokes and polish alloy rims. Hubs are freshly polished too. Mufflers are new Dunstall style megaphones that sound great. Gauges are rebuilt and gauge holders are new. Has extra oil pressure gauge. Has new TT100 Dunlops front and rear. New rear sprocket and chain. New fuel lines on carbs. Bike is very clean, not a show bike but something you can be proud of and ride. A very good Trident."

Sounds interesting to us! To visit the auction for this Trident, go here. To read the Motorcycle Classics story on the later Trident, the T160, go here.

The first Triumph Trident T150V I ever saw was at a drag strip in Austin Texas in 1973. Some college friends and I were having fun at a "run-what-you-brung" open night at the local strip. Every imaginable 4 wheel sled was showing up for a timed run and some friendly "head-to-head" match ups. The occasional bike would make a run but nothing amazing on two wheels was seen. While making a soft-drink run, a machine of unknown origin blasted away from the starting line like a locomotive and nearly shook the drink from my hand. Later, we found the owner of an amazingly stock Trident locomotive with megaphone exhaust. The sound that machine made was like no other I had experienced before. It left quite an impression on a bunch of college kids! :o)

The sound and the fury: celebrate the machines that changed the world!
