This week's eBay searching quickly produced this very cool and unusual machine, a 1980 Mystery Ship. One of just 10 Mystery Ships made by Craig Vetter, this is a rare opportunity to own a neat piece of history.

According to the auction, this bike is #7 of the 10 Mystery Ships Vetter made in the only year they were produced, which was 1980. This bike was bought from Craig Vetter by celebrity billionare Malcolm Forbes.

What an interesting motorcycle. I wonder if Vetter still has an example. It was on the cover of all the bike mags back then. The Vetter fairing influenced styling is really evident. Seems to me I read a long time ago that he designed the fairings so that the rider would be catapulted over the obstical in the event of a colision.
