This year’s show, the third, will be on May 3 and held as ever on the magnificent grounds of the Ritz-Carlton at Half Moon Bay, Calif., just a short drive south of San Francisco. And if the last two shows are anything to go by — and believe us, they are — you can bet that Legend founders Jared Zaugg and Brooke Roner will have an incredible array of vintage and classic motorcycles spread across the lawns of the Ritz. MV Agusta and Norton are this year’s featured marques, and Italian legend and 15-time Grand Prix World champ Giacomo Agostini will be on hand to receive the show’s Lifetime Achievement award.
There’s also the second annual Bonham’s & Butterfields auction, this year featuring the personal collection of Michael Corbin, an Indian motorcycle collector and founder of the seat company that bears his name. A 1940 Indian Scout, formerly belonging to actor and Indian fan Steve McQueen, is part of the auction. All told, 20 of Corbin’s bikes will be for sale, along with a variety of other motorcycles including a 1903 Rex single.
A great location and (usually) excellent weather make this a spectacular event. And with a star-studded cast of judges including the likes of ex-Norton employee and Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum restoration expert Brian Slark, former Andover Norton owner Mike Jackson, and Kenny Dreer, creator of the late, great Norton America — not to mention some 200 unbelievable classic motorcycles — it’s an event not to be missed.
