The 26th Greenwich Concours was held at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park in Greenwich, CT. The traditional summer date was changed to October 24, 2021 because of COVID. It was the first Greenwich Concours to be managed by Hagerty Insurance Company which has acquired several large shows in the United States. Their game plan is to keep the enthusiasm going AND keep the hobby going. This year’s Grand Marshal was Jay Ward from Pixar Studios. Jay is a lifelong gearhead, equally at home with cars, motorcycles, and Hot Rods. The featured motorcycle marques this year were Indian and Moto Guzzi. This is the century anniversary of Moto Guzzi. A wide range of vehicles were on display here from the thirties to modern day. The winner of the Moto Guzzi class was Wicker Francis’ 1952 Moto Guzzi Falcone which was ridden into the meet. The winning Indian was a 1937 Indian “upside down” four owned by Roland Houde. He started it every hour to the thrill of the spectators. Another interesting entry was a 1942 Indian 841. The Indian 841 was built in an attempt to gain a military contract in WWII. Its transverse V twin configuration was later emulated by Moto Guzzi into what has become its trademark transverse V-Twin. In this way the entry was the “missing link” between these two marques! Next year’s Concours will revert back to June 3-5, 2022.
