The Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA), the oldest and largest vintage bike club in the U.S., with 11,000-plus members in the U.S. and a dozen countries, will host the inaugural AMCA Lucas Oil Vintage Motorcycle Classic at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama, May 27-29, 2016. The AMCA’s first new national meet in years, the new event underscores the AMCA’s role in guiding the preservation of vintage motorcycles.
The AMCA’s regional and national meets have always been a central part of fulfilling that preservation role, and this new event expands the AMCA’s presence, giving the club a high-profile venue that’s become known around the world as a Mecca for motorcycle fans, vintage or otherwise.
The three-day event will include tech seminars, vintage bike shows, AMCA and peer judging, motorcycle field games, children’s games — in a word, all the things that make any AMCA national meet a great place to meet and mix with fellow motorcyclists. The event will also include a large swap meet, with vendors offering vintage bike parts, bikes and memorabilia. Barber offers a unique setting for this new AMCA event, an 800-plus acre park that includes the world famous Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum and its collection of 700-plus motorcycles, and one of the finest racetracks in the country, a 2.38-mile circuit that winds its way through 15 turns.
