of the Trippin’ on Two Wheels series aired on SPEED TV.
Time’s almost up to make plans for the 10th Annual Riding Into History classic motorcycle show May 16, the final stop in Dennis Gage’s next episode of Trippin’ on Two Wheels, which airs on SPEED TV. Get there on time, and you’ll get to see Dennis, his son, Sam, and Motorcycle Classics regular contributor Neale Bayly as they pull into the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla., following a 1,000 mile odyssey on vintage bikes that starts at the Gage home outside Evansville, Ind., four days prior.
Unofficially billed as the “E’ville to St. A” epic, Gage’s next bit of traveling madness will have the crew running the back roads of the Southeast, leaving Gage’s home outside Evansville, Ind., (E’ville) on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, before pulling into the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla., (St. A) three days later for the 10th Annual Riding Into History classic bike and charity show, which runs May 16. Gage will be riding a 1969 BMW R60, Bayly will ride a 1968 Moto Guzzi V7 and Sam, in a change of plans from riding Dennis’ 1983 BMW R80, will instead ride Dennis’ 1973 BMW R75/5, a machine I have a particular fondness for, if only because I owned and rode one exclusively for a number of years.
In an earlier post on Gage’s planned ride, I gave the lowdown on when they’ll be heading out from Evansville and how we’ll cover their little sojourn, both here at Motorcycleclassics.com and in the pages of Motorcycle Classics, with a full report on the trip from Neale Bayly, once he has a chance to get back home to Charlotte and put his notes together, that is. This will be the first U.S. ride for the Trippin’ series, and the first time for the full Trippin’ crew to drop in for the festivities at Riding Into History, where Gage will share master of ceremonies honors with legendary motorcycle designer Craig Vetter.
Our advice? Get your tires aired up and your saddle bag loaded and swing on down to Florida May 16 for the 10th Annual Riding Into History and a chance to see the next episode of Trippin’ on Two Wheels in the making. – Richard Backus
