DANA POINT, Calif. – Feb. 5, 2013 – The inaugural Orange County Collector Car & Motorcycle Weekend™ and the Dana Point Concours d’Elegance® will honor the five branches of the United States Armed Forces through this year’s theme: “Salute to the U.S. Military: Past & Present War Vehicles.” From Friday, June 21, to Sunday, June 23, 2013, the Orange County Collector Car & Motorcycle Weekend™ will host enthusiasts and car collectors from across the country to celebrate the Southern California automotive heritage in Dana Point, including an exclusive, never-before-seen tour of the United States Marine Corps Camp Pendleton Base.
“Southern California is a hub for the largest military base on the West Coast and home to some of the most advanced fighting forces in our country,” said Jeff Spellens, president of the Dana Point Concours d’Elegance®. “We want to honor them in a way that has never been done before. We will do that with an exhibit featuring some of the greatest war vehicles of all time, as well as a guided tour one of the most revered military bases in the U.S.”
As part of this year’s theme, the Dana Point Concours d’Elegance® will display historic military automobiles and motorcycles on Sunday, June 23, on the prestigious Monarch Beach Golf Links at the St. Regis Monarch Beach resort. For the first time ever, active military and DOD personal are invited to attend on Sunday for free, plus receive a discounted $15 admission ticket for a friend or family member.
To kick-off the festival, the Orange County Collector Car & Motorcycle Weekend™ will host an exclusive tour of the U.S. Marine Corps Camp Pendleton Base on Friday, June 21. With only 200 vehicle spots available for the tour, the select group of attendees will depart the St. Regis Monarch Beach resort and cruise down the historic Basilone Road. The all-day event includes lunch inside the School of Infantry (SOI – West) mess hall and a dinner at the prestigious Pacific Views Event Center. Ticket prices are $500 per vehicle, including one driver and one passenger; each additional passenger is $200.
“We’re honored to be one of the only civilian groups to receive this special, private tour opportunity,” noted Spellens. “The men and women who serve our country deserve to be honored and celebrated. We hope they join us during the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday to take part in all the exciting activities we have planned throughout the day.”
Dana Point Concours d’Elegance General Admission tickets are $30 in advance; children 12-years-old and younger are free with any ticket-holding adult on Sunday, June 23. Active duty military and DOD personnel will receive free admission. Please note, car and motorcycle exhibitor information is coming soon.
