A bit of Britain is coming to the U.S. Aug. 24-26, 2012, as England’s fabled Ace Café teams up with the newly opened LeMay car museum for Meet at the Ace – A Summer Shakedown 2012, one of the signature events to debut at the new four-level, 165,000-square-foot Tacoma museum. Motorcycle Classics editor-in-chief Richard Backus will be on hand along with former Cycle World editor David Edwards, the Ace Café’s Mark Wilsmore, and motorcycle journalists Robert Smith and Mark Gardiner acting as judges for the premier event.

Awards will be presented in 12 different classes plus 1st through 3rd Judges’ Choice and 1st through 3rd People’s Choice. Any motorcycle or scooter 1980 or older qualifies for the show. There will also be a swap meet, motorcycle-themed movies, panel discussions, a slideshow retrospective with the Ace Café’s Mark Wilsmore, a beer garden, food, and live music. There’s also a scheduled “Ride to Rainier” on Sunday for vintage bikes only.
