Birmingham, Ala. (May 20) – The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum will host “Motorcycles in the Park at Barber,” a ride-in bike show on Saturday, June 21, which is the first day of the Triumph SuperBike Classic AMA Pro Road Race.
The competition will take place in the Fan Zone at Barber Motorsports Park, beginning with registration at 9 a.m. and ending with a trophy presentation at 3 p.m. The bike show is free to all Triumph SuperBike Classic spectators.
Well known historian Somer Hooker will be one of three judges to determine the best of the best, along with Brian Slark, who is an AMA Hall of Fame Inductee and Technical Advisor at the Barber Museum, and Jim Edwards, who is a former Harley-Davidson engineer and is a docent at the Barber Museum.
“This is the second year we have done the bike show during the Triumph SuperBike Classic, and the Barber Museum restoration staff has made the trophies again this year. The trophies were a big hit last year. They’re one-of-a-kind,” said Slark.
Awards will be given for Best in Show, Oldest Bike, and People’s Choice, and for each of the following motorcycle classes: Café Racer, Off-Road, Best European, Best American, Best British, and Best Japanese. Registration costs $10 for the first bike. The cost to register additional bikes in the competition is $5 each. People can pre-register for the competition by calling (205)702-8733.
The Triumph Superbike Classic weekend, presented by America’s First Federal Credit Union, at the Barber Motorsports Park, takes place June 21-22, making it the third stop on this year’s AMA Pro Road Racing schedule. Last year’s AMA Pro Road Race drew over 35,000 fans from around the world. Tickets can be purchased and printed at barbermotorsports.com.
