Spectator tickets for next year’s Thundersprint, which will be held at the Darley Moor Circuit on May 10th and 11th next year, have gone on sale – and at ground breaking prices; £5.00 ($8.03) for the whole weekend!
Thundersprint organiser Frank Melling said: “We have had so many enquiries from spectators that we just had to start selling tickets. In 17 years of running the Thundersprint we have never seen this much interest so early.
“We also want to set a standard for admission prices. In the current economic climate we feel that high admission prices for spectators are not sustainable or practical in terms of a business model and are also unfair to large sections of the community who are struggling to make ends meet.
“We are charging just £5.00 for a pre-booked weekend admission ticket. For £5.00, spectators will get two days of star studded track action, a Spitfire aerobatic display, huge trade area and lots of entertainment aimed at the whole family. Children – even old ones if accompanied by their parents – have free admission and there is no charge for pets.
“Camping for the whole weekend is £15 (24.09), again if pre-booked. The reality is that Mum, Dad, a couple of kids and the family dog can have a fantastic weekend of top quality entertainment for £25.00 ($40.15). This is a price which makes the Thundersprint accessible to the whole community – not just the committed, hard core motorcycle racing fans or the wealthy.”
Eddie Nelson, Secretary of the Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club who control the Darley Moor Motorsports Centre said: “We’ve got a fantastic venue at Darley, with excellent facilities in a truly beautiful setting located right in the centre of the country.
“We also have the room and infrastructure to host a major event like the Thundersprint although for the first year we intend restricting attendance numbers to 25,000 to ensure that we offer a world class customer experience.”
