Riding Into History, one of America’s premier vintage motorcycle events, will return to the beautiful World Golf Village near St. Augustine, Florida, on May 22-23, 2015. Our Grand Marshal is David Aldana, a motorcycle racer who specialized in dirt track oval racing and road racing.
The weekend starts Friday, May 22 with a Grand Marshal’s Historic Lunch Ride, led by Grand Marshal David Aldana. This is followed by the Grand Marshal dinner at the World Golf Hall of Fame, featuring a talk from David Aldana. On Saturday, May 23 we feature the Motorcycle Concours d’Elegance, beginning at 10 AM, with charity rides to the event leaving from Adamec Harley-Davidson and BMW Motorcycles of Jacksonville.
All of the proceeds from Riding Into History will benefit the Ponte Vedra, Florida-based charity, K9s for Warriors. With all the help and support from our sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and spectators, we were able to make a $40K donation to K9s For Warriors. The Weaver Family Foundation has pledged to match our donation. To date, Riding Into History has raised over $360,000 for charity.
The event is presented by Riding Into History Inc., a 501(c)3 not for profit organization comprised entirely of volunteer members from several motorcycle organizations, led by the BMW Motorcycle Owners of Northeast Florida (BMWNEF). The Historic Motorcycle Society (HMS), Chrome Divas of Jacksonville Beach, Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA), VJMC, BMW Outriders and the AMCA Sunshine Chapter all lend support to the event.
Between 250 and 300 antique, vintage and classic motorcycles from all over the country are expected to enter the Concours, which this year honors “Rule Britannia.” Thousands of spectators are once again expected to enjoy the event, which also includes exhibitors, vendors, entertainment, clubs and a variety of food. Admission is still only $10 at the gate for the Concours.
Internationally known motorcycle artist Don Bradley once again provided the original artwork for the posters, which have become collectors’ items. Don, who passed away in March, provided artwork for the Riding Into History posters for 11 years, and his artwork helped put Riding Into History on the national motorcycle community map. Posters, t-shirts and other items are available at RidingIntoHistory.org and at the event.
Sponsors for the event include Sargent Cycle Products, Adamec Harley-Davidson, BMWNEF, J&P Cycles, VyStar Credit Union, BMW Motorcycles of Jacksonville, Folio Weekly, AMCA Sunshine Chapter, Mercedes-Benz, C Hill Concepts Web Design and BMW Outriders.
The World Golf Village is located just north of St. Augustine on I-95, exit 323. For additional information go to the Riding Into History website, email info@RidingIntoHistory.org or call 904-677-9452.
