Point your scoot now toward Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, for the 9th Annual Bonneville Vintage GP and rounds 15 and 16 of the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association CPL Systems National Historic Cup Roadrace Series, August 29-31, 2014. The Labor Day weekend at Miller will see two days of great vintage racing on the Miller track plus the annual Motorcycle Classics Vintage Bike Show on Saturday. Vincent is the featured marque, and we’ll award trophies in five categories including British, European, Japanese, American and Custom plus the annual People’s Choice Award.
New for this year, the three-day day event will also feature the Salt Lake City Builds Custom Bike Show on Sunday, with the spotlight on hardtails, softtails, café racers and customs of every kind. Returning highlights include the best sidecar racing in North America with sidecar racing Saturday and Sunday, and the hugely popular Battle of the CB160s LeMans Start also returns, with noon-time races Saturday and Sunday. Both appear along with regular AHRMA series racing including 350GP, Classics ‘60s, 500 Premier, plus Class C hand/foot shift racing.
The 2014 Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials (formerly the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials) will wrap up Thursday, August 28, just in time for participants there to hot foot it to Miller Motorsports Park, one of the best race tracks in North America. There are actually two tracks at Miller, with the AHRMA races run on the more technical 2.24-mile East Track. Featuring 14 turns including the 50-foot wide, 9-degree last turn that launches racers down the front straight, Miller’s East Track is a rider favorite on the AHRMA roster. The elevation changes are slight at 124 feet, but the challenging turns and excellent layout of the Alan Miller-designed track make this one of the best-attended races of the year for AHRMA riders. See you there! – Richard Backus
