Auction houses Bonhams and Mecum are gearing up for their annual Las Vegas classic motorcycle auctions. Bonhams will hold its one-day auction Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Bally’s Hotel & Casino while Mecum will continue the three-day auction extravaganza established by MidAmerica Auction (Mecum acquired MidAmerica in 2013) when it holds the 25th Annual Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction Jan. 7-9, 2016, at South Point Casino and Exhibit Hall.

It’s early in the consignment process and final sale offerings are still pending, but both Bonhams and Mecum are trumpeting a few of the special motorcycles they’ll have on sale.

Bonhams will feature a one-owner-from-new 1955 Vincent Black Prince and a replica 1929 Indian-Crocker overhead valve conversion. The lightly modified Vincent, which travelled 130,000 miles under its owner, is expected to fetch between $90,000 to $120,000 when it goes under the hammer. The Indian-Crocker, one of a handful constructed by builder Gwen Banquer, is a copy of Al Crocker’s overhead valve conversion for the Indian 101 Scout, faithfully reproduced to the last detail. Bonhams’ 2015 sale featured 220-plus motorcycles; expect the same for 2016.
