TACOMA, Wash. (August 14, 2012) – High-flying professional BMX team “Ride and Glide” is bringing its aerial act to LeMay – America’s Car Museum (ACM) Sat., Aug. 25. Shows are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. as part of the inaugural “Meet at the Ace – A Summer Shakedown” Vintage Motorcycle & Bike Festival.
“We’re always looking for fun, unique ways to engage families and people from all types of backgrounds, and this event is a great example,” says Scot Keller, ACM chief communications and marketing officer. “Whether it’s the classic bikes, the BMX stunts, the live music or access to our award-winning museum, Meet at the Ace has something everyone will enjoy.”
Team Ride and Glide, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, has launched the careers of several X Games gold medalists. Their blend of entertainment and education has been showcased around the globe, including China, Russia and India.
“As much as Ride and Glide is known for wowing crowds with aerial stunts, their true focus is on positively impacting kids,” says Keller. “Audience interaction is encouraged during each performance, allowing the team to relay messages of bicycle safety, self-esteem and healthy living. They’re about pointing young people in the right direction … and that’s what ACM is about, too.”
In addition to team Ride and Glide, Meet at the Ace will include a concours, motorcycle-related movies, live music, food vendors and a Sunday “Ride to Rainier” in conjunction with the Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts Club. Panel discussions centered on the Steve McQueen film “On Any Sunday” and a slideshow retrospective presented by Ace Cafe London Managing Director Mark Wilsmore are also part of the Aug. 25 festival.
Registration is open to all motorcycles and scooters manufactured prior to 1980. Prices are $40 for the first vehicle, $25 for the second and $15 each for any additional entry.
