Ace 1200CR Street Special

Based on the iconic V-Twin engine from Milwaukee USA, the four cam 1200cc gas-flowed, ported, polished and tuned motor, producing 78bhp & 82lb ft  torque, is housed in a bronze welded, nickel plated and especially fabricated, legendary and ever popular “featherbed” wideline style frame of seamless, cold drawn T45 carbon manganese steel tubing, renowned for its lightweight, strength and stability.

Fully detailed with high gloss black powder coated cylinder heads, primary cover, cut down timing case and an Ace Café Racer points cover, the normally aspirated engine draws air in through a traditional “bell mouth” on a S&S Cycles Super E carburettor, fitted with a K-Tech choke, and breathes out via a polished stainless steel hand-built two-into-one-into-two tuned exhaust system with megas!

Feeding the engine’s hungry Wiseco forged pistons, courtesy Crane roller rockers, is an Andrews N4 profile camshaft lifting Black Diamond valves, with “single fire” spark ignition, powered by a “single fire” coil, provided by the highly regarded H4 system from Crane.  A Kevlar 6-plate Barnett performance clutch makes sure that power in transferred smoothly to the 5-speed gearbox.  The sprockets, carrying a heavy duty 530 triple S O-ring chain, deliver power to the wheels via PBI alloy 48 tooth rear and 23 tooth front sprockets, which team up with gear ratios at 10.407 for 1st gear, 7.436 for 2nd, 5.53 for 3rd, 4.583 for 4th and 5th, top gear at 3.93 making for a quick bike.

Goodridge “carbon black” brake lines and stainless steel fittings hook up the special lightweight black anodised Ace callipers, 6-piston front and 4-piston at rear, machined from 6082-T6 aluminium by Harrison Billet, with a pair of 11-inch laser-cut diamond ground finish induction hardened stainless steel “wavy” contour discs providing race track performance braking.

The complimentary efficient and effective suspension consisting of polished 39mm conventional telescopic forks, with classic black rubber gaiters protecting the stanchions, is fitted with progressively wound springs from Progressive Suspension – eliminating end sag and reducing dive.  At the back is a pair of dialled-in, emulsion type, Ohlins S36E twin shocks with mechanical pre-load spring adjusters.

Laced with stainless steel spokes, the polished aluminium hubs and 17-inch Morad TR type reinforced aluminium rims, front at 3.00in and a 4.25in at the rear, wearing Metzeler Lasertec tires of the newest high silica materials and compound technology, with a classic tread pattern design ensuring effective water dispersal for safe wet riding and long lasting mileage, all combines to ensure that the bike is “sure-footed” and handles as well as it goes!

With a single black seat at just 30 inches high, 7-inch headlight, “Blackeye” back light, 3.5 gallon “Manx” aluminium fuel tank and 8.45 pint oil tank, both with 13 coats of House of Colour primer, paint and lacquer, finished in a deep gloss black paint and equipped with clip-on bars with integral bar end indicators, machined Storz rear-set foot pegs and an analogue rev counter with built in digital speedometer, by Motogadget, mounted on the polished aluminium top yoke, all weighing in, with fluids at only a little over 385lb on an axle to axle wheelbase of 4ft 8in, this bike is light, nimble and fast – it’s a café racer!
