Consider this your last call for action, as vintage race fans and AHRMA racers get ready to head to the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, for the 4th Annual Bonneville Vintage GP, presented by Motorcycle Classics, Sept. 4-6, 2009.
We’ve raved about the Bonneville GP since its inception in 2006, and if you’ve been, you know why. Featuring a world-class track packed with classic Nortons, Hondas and Harleys battling for top place in AHRMA’s Michigan Engineering Historic Cup Roadrace Series, unbelievable Utah vistas and the Bonneville Salt Flats, it’s mecca for classic race fans. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to go to Miller, this is it.
We’ll be on hand Saturday, Sept. 5, hosting our annual Motorcycle Classics Vintage Motorcycle Show, and the wacky Flying Circus Honda CB160 racers will be there in force for Saturday and Sunday’s Battle Of The CB160s LeMans Start. It’s a spectacle not to be missed as dozens of CB160 racers dash across the track, hop aboard and then bump start their bikes before blasting off around the track. Watching those little 160s running flat out through the corners and carrying as much speed as they can muster down the straights (about 80mph) is an incredible sight, and it’s one of the top events of the weekend.
There’s also sidecar racing, a Legends Bikes parade lap, a police motorcycle competition (these guys are incredible), Doug Pollen 1-On-1 Riders School sessions, a swap meet and vendors set up around the paddocks. More at www.bonnevillevintagegp.com. See you there! MC
