Mark Sept. 5-7, 2008, on your calendars now, because that’s when Motorcycle Classicspresents the 3rd Annual Bonneville Vintage GP at the incredible Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.
Like the Legend of the Motorcycle show, the Bonneville Vintage GP is a relative newcomer to the fold, but from the first show in 2006, it was clear that classic bike and race fans had a new star shining in the show and race circuit.
It doesn’t hurt that it’s held at the U.S.’s newest and arguably most modern race venue, where racers are treated to amenities some of the older tracks can only dream of. Hot shower? Not a problem. And when the day’s over, how about heading up to the track clubhouse for a cold one, looking out the expansive windows at the mountains in the distance? Not bad, not bad at all.
It’s just as good for attendees, with spectacular vintage racing from the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) and the annual Battle of the CB160s (with a LeMans-style start) on Saturday and Sunday. Motorcycle Classics will be hosting Saturday’s Concours d’Elegance classic bike show in the east paddock, plus Sunday’s Vintage Motorcycle Ride leaving from the Miller Motor Museum. There’s also sidecar racing, a swap meet, the Worth Custom Bike Show, motorcycle vendors, and if you get there early the International Motorcycle Speed Trials by BUB, held on the hallowed grounds of the Bonneville Salt Flats.
